Day 52: Torrey Pines and La Jolla, CA

This morning we woke up to the smell of french toast for breakfast. We are definitely getting spoiled by all of this delicious non-camping food. After we filled up on breakfast we got ready for our hike.
When we got to Torrey Pines we decided to park by the beach and walk up the hill for our warmup. Once we got to the top of the hill we checked the map and decided which trail to follow back down to the beach. We stopped along the way to take a few pictures and enjoy the views.

We continued along the hike and kept taking more pictures every time we saw the opportunity.

The hike then leads down onto the beach and I apparently got so distracted by the numerous shell beds that I completely forgot to take any more pictures of our hike. Instead, I combed and combed the shore for unique shells and rocks to keep. Seung-Hee and Daniel said that the beach usually didn't have any shell beds or rocks washed ashore and that it must have happened after a recent storm. I didn't find too many shells, but I did find a lot of unique what appeared to be river rocks. I'm not sure if that is a common thing to find on beaches here in California, but you definitely don't see that back home.
While Seung-Hee and I were intently searching for heart shaped rocks we didn't notice a wave coming and we both got soaked! It was funny and and worth it when we finally found some heart rocks!

These were my "heart" rock finds
After we left the beach, we went to watch people paragliding for a little while. It was cool to watch and we would have done it for sure if we had the time and extra cash.

They told us about a park where seals and sea lions beach.  You can go see them up close and take pictures! I really really wanted to do that so we went there next. I caught this cute picture of a seagull trying to be a lifeguard.

When I saw the seals and sea lions my face lit up and I just felt pure joy! They were all so cute talking and cutting up with their friends.

This one was my favorite because he was massive and his nose is a perfect heart! Also because he kind of resembles a Berenstain bear in the picture behind me!

We were all pretty hungry so we went to have California burritos at Jose's. Apparently what makes a Californian burrito different is the addition of french fries. Evan had a burrito and I had the shrimp tacos. Both were very delicious!
After dinner we headed back to the house to relax for the evening. We all watched some of our funny YouTube videos and then we ended the night watching The Revanent.
Tomorrow morning we get back on the road to visit more parks!

I don't think anyone can ever come up with any excuse not to pour out his heart to his kids. I think those people who choose to abandon their children to live a better life else where with a different family are just plain selfish. Unless their children were like taken from them by force, there is simply no excuse for anyone who will always choose work over children. I think migrant workers are only heroes if they try their best to stay connected to their kids no matter how far they are. Some are just escaping really.

I need to find a way to get out of this wrong habit. I developed a way of thinking which is a little too odd from what seems acceptable. I don't consider looking at calculated risks anymore and just state right away that whatever I see in front of me is going to fail. I keep quiet about it because I am afraid everyone is going to blame my negativity when things don't work out. If we are going to look at the picture, there's still a chance for it to work if only people will listen to constructive criticism.
