This morning we left Blake's around 11 to head to the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center.
Unfortunately, we cannot visit the Channel Islands because you have to charter out to them. It's pretty expensive to do that so we'll have to catch it next time around. Instead, our visit was limited to exploring the visitor center. The visitor center was great, though, and we got to enjoy marine life displays and the exhibits featuring the unique character of each park island. We even got to watch a bald eagle webcam with some eagle hatchlings sitting in a nest!
Next we headed to Los Angeles to go visit Evan's uncle, Rudy, and see Evan's mom who was also visiting. We played catch up and enjoyed the view from the pool for a little while.

Then Evan and I cleaned out the car from the mud splash fiasco. We had delicious spaghetti for dinner and then we watched TV with the family until bedtime. Checkout the view of the valley from his backyard!
Day 48: Taking it easy
Today we slept in super late. It was great to sleep in a bed instead of the car or air mattress like the past week. We went to Rudy's favorite sushi place for lunch and then once back home we worked on some wedding to-dos for pretty much the rest of the day. Tonight we had meatloaf for dinner which was also very delicious! It sure is a treat when we get a break from camping food, but now we are just being spoiled!
Day 49: Drive to Carlsbad, CA
This morning we woke up and finished a few more to-dos before getting packed back up to head to our next destination. We ate lunch, had a family photo session and then said farewell around 2pm to drive to Carlsbad, CA to visit our friends Laura and Sam.
Laura made some delicious steamed artichokes while Sam made some burgers for dinner. All of it was very delicious and I'm definitely going to have to get that artichoke recipe! We had a very chill evening of catching up followed by some relaxing in the hot tub. Tomorrow, Evan is going to go play golf with Sam while I try to catch up on some blogging.
