We woke up early this morning, said thanks and farewell to Carlos, and drove to Yosemite National Park.
Once we got to the Big Oak Flat Entrance we stopped at the ranger station to secure a campsite for the night and pick up a map. The ranger was super helpful! He found us a great spot at Wawona campground right by the river and talked to us about some of the rockclimbing sites. He was asking a little background on our visit and when we told him about the trip he even asked for our blog information. I forgot to catch his name but Mr. Park Ranger from Yosemite if you read this thank you so much for being friendly and helpful!
We decided to start the day out by enjoying views on the drive to and around Yosemite Valley. Check out these amazing pictures!

After the sightseeing we headed to do our chosen activity for the day which was to hike the Mist Trail to Vernal Falls and on to the top of Nevada Falls. We read that the hike is the best to do in the spring because the waterfalls are rushing like crazy from all the snow melt. When we got to the bottom of Vernal Falls there was a full rainbow in the mist!
We continued the hike up past Vernal Falls and we got drenched on the way! The falls were rushing so much that the mist felt more like rain as you hiked by. On the way to Nevada Falls we stopped and had our flag picture taken with the falls in the background.
The trek rewarded us with amazing scenery the entire way!
After 2 hours and a 2000ft ascent, we finally arrived at the top. The views were absolutely incredible!
After taking a short break to admire the majestic beauty of the place, we decided to take the John Muir Trail back to give us different scenery.
This was a really cool capture on the John Muir Trail as we were leaving. Although, it appears black and white it is actually a color photo and you can see the green in a few places.
The hike up the Mist Trail to the top of Nevada Falls then following the John Muir Trail back is 7 miles with an average completion time of 5-6 hours. We are in full training mode for the upcoming Grand Canyon hike and we crushed the hike in 4 hours so we were very proud!
After the hike we needed to head to camp to set up and have dinner. We stopped at Valley View on the way out of Yosemite Valley for this photo op of El Capitan.

Continuing on the drive to camp we also saw some amazing views from Tunnel View overlook.
Then right before we got to camp we caught some amazing sunset views! Talk about a great night cap!
We set up our campsite, made a quick dinner of chicken noodle soup and tunafish sandwiches, and called it a night. Tomorrow we are going to check out a couple of the climbing routes the ranger told us about. We are pretty excited!
