We woke this morning to more beautiful views of the lake while we packed up camp. After saying farewell to the University of Montana group we headed to Idaho to see what it had to offer. There wasn't a "welcome to Idaho" sign on our road, unless it was covered by snow, so we had to settle for this sign as we crossed over the stateline around 3:30. Once in the state the scenery was beautiful. There were lots of trees, big hills, bodies of water, and even some snow topped mountains!
Couer D'Alene River and Lake were both gorgeous! At the lake we decided to do the Mineral Ridge loop trail which takes you up to a spot where you get an amazing overview of the area and lake. It was 2.1 mi with a 660ft ascent. The entire hike had plenty of beautiful photo opportunities!
Of course we had to take our Idaho flag picture!
After the hike back we got back on the road to head over to Washington. Not sure who thought it would be a good idea to put the Washington sign in the median of the highway instead of on the right hand side of the road like every other state. We decided to stay at the KOA in Spokane for the night so we could hop on wifi and get some stuff done.
Tomorrow is a day of driving through Washington to get to North Cascades National Park which we will explore on Monday.
Day 32: Washington
We woke up pretty early to get on the road. Today is my amazing mother's birthday so I facetimed her to say Happy Birthday and of course talk to Ms. Penny Lane for a little while! She plopped down on the floor and wanted a belly rub when she saw me which is exactly what she does at home lol. I miss her like crazy!
The scenery on the drive was gorgeous and I was able to get a few pictures. There were tons of trees in all different shades of greens and even some red and pink trees too!
A fellow driver in Washington took some pictures of our car and emailed them to us. He said he took it we were heading West on I-90, just passed Ellensburg and before Snoqualmie Pass. He captured it just in time to get a view of the majestic Stuart Range in the distance behind some solar power turbines.
After driving for about 8 hours we finally arrived at Alpine RV park for the night. This was our tent site under some big trees for shade.
Tomorrow we get to explore North Cascades National Park!
