Day 13: Nebraska and Wyoming

Last night we slept great despite how cold it was. Probably because we were all bundled up in our sleeping bags.
We had a nice relaxing breakfast and then said hello to the campground neighbors. After peeling Janella away from the animals we headed out to hike Chimney Rock!

We were able to get our 6th state flag picture at the trail head and then we set off on our hike.

It only took us about 45 minutes to hike up to the base, walk around the bottom a little, and get back to the beginning. We took some pretty cool pics!
There was also a pioneer cemetery across the street from the trail head that we checked out. It was really enlightening to walk around and see all the names and dates of the pioneers that traveled the Oregon Trail. Some of the tombstones were so old you couldn't read them. This one is obviously a new tombstone that was donated by her family, but look at the dates on it! She was the earliest pioneer buried there.
Now it was time to pack up camp and get on the road to Cheyenne! We hit the state line about 2pm and made it to Kayla and Jeff's an hour later.

That's it for today! Time to catch up with Janella's old friends and figure out what's the plan for tomorrow!

Lesson of the Day: Check out info about wildlife and the area BEFORE going on a hike in unfamiliar territory.

Word of the Day: decrepit
