When we got to Torrey Pines we decided to park by the beach and walk up the hill for our warmup. Once we got to the top of the hill we checked the map and decided which trail to follow back down to the beach. We stopped along the way to take a few pictures and enjoy the views.
This morning we woke up to the smell of french toast for breakfast. We are definitely getting spoiled by all of this delicious non-camping food. After we filled up on breakfast we got ready for our hike. When we got to Torrey Pines we decided to park by the beach and walk up the hill for our warmup. Once we got to the top of the hill we checked the map and decided which trail to follow back down to the beach. We stopped along the way to take a few pictures and enjoy the views.

This afternoon Evan and Sam left to go play golf while I stayed home and took the time off to rest.
This morning we left Blake's around 11 to head to the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center.
We slept in a little late today because we needed the extra rest. Then we had some delicious Blake-made breakfast burritos and hung out around the house for a while. In the afternoon we decided to walk down to the beach for a few hours. It was about a 30 minute walk to actually get there, but at least it had nice scenery on the way.
When we woke up this morning we were quite surprised at how nice our campsite and the scenery was for a BLM campground. The campsite was very well kept and completely free! We couldn't believe it.
Here is our lovely campsite on the river complete with our very own bear box! This is the first park where we had to use one because the bears are now emerging from hibernation. Unfortunately, we didn't have any bear sightings. Yes you read that correctly, I really want to see a bear. Only a black bear though, I have no desire to see a grizzly anywhere close to me, lol.
We woke up early this morning, said thanks and farewell to Carlos, and drove to Yosemite National Park.
This morning we slept in a little because we needed the extra rest from all the car “sleeping.” We had to drive some more to get to Lassen Volcanic National Park and we finally arrived around 10:45am.
This was our “campsite” by the river last night. It was a pretty nice spot, but we are so tired of sleeping in the front seats of the tiny Yaris!
Today is Ms. Penny Lane's birthday! We wish we could be with her to celebrate, but had to settle for a facetime chat and this super adorable picture.
Last night we drove until the small hours and when we arrived at Mount Rainier NP the entrance gate was closed. We parked the car outside the gate and resorted to sleeping in the car. Although it's not a typical campsite, I took a picture of it anyway. If you zoom in you can even see our friendly campsite visitor grazing above us.
We didn't get that much sleep at the airport last night or during our flight this morning. Even though we were half asleep and super sore and wanted to take the day off, we decided to push on and head to our next stop.
Our flight landed and we went to pick up our faithful Yaris, Honu. As the airport parking service people retrieved our car for us some of the other staff told us how much they enjoyed reading our blog! Apparently our windshield billboard did the trick. They were all very friendly and wished us luck on the remainder of our trip which made us very happy! As soon as the car pulled up, Evan grabbed another pair of shoes and said farewell to his hiking boots. :( We will need to get a new pair of boots, but unfortunately it will have to wait until after the trip. After we checked out of the hotel we headed to Mendenhall Glacier. On the way there we saw several bald eagles. One tree had 5 perched in it and we caught this sweet picture with another flying overhead!
This morning we woke up and headed to North Cascades NP. This picture was taken on the drive not far from the entrance to the park.
