We packed up and left camp by 8:30am to head to Kansas. There was more beautiful Oklahoma countryside and a lot more animals including deer running in front of the car but we finally reached the state line at 2:40pm!
Kansas driving was pretty flat. The fields were interesting because there would be a bright green luscious field and then a dead brown field right beside it. There was also a ton of roadkill, poor animals!
We arrived to Cowley lake waterfall at 3:25pm which was our one Kansas stop. The view from the top wasn't great but once we got to the bottom it was beautiful! I found peace listening to the flowing water while Evan dreamt of rock climbing. The only bummer was the litter and graffiti that covered everything. 😕 #preservenature #keepamericabeautiful
Second flag picture! We ordered the state pins and they are waiting for us at Evan's parents house in IL. Only 1 more picture before we can start adding the states as we visit.
There wasn't much too do/see here so after a few minutes we left and headed for Missouri! We hit the state line at 6:42pm and stopped at a cool truck stop in Joplin that was as big as a department store! It even had an 18-wheeler inside the store!
You can see the 18-wheeler on the right in the panorama below! This was only one section of the entire truck stop and it was filled with everything a trucker could possibly need for his (or her?) truck and trailer. Sorry about the weird people catches in the photo!
We set up camp at the KOA campground across the street. Evan made delicious chicken chunk soup from some canned goods we had. It started to rain during dinner so we quickly finished up and retired to the tent. We have an early morning tomorrow so we can have tons of fun in Branson!
What's with those brown fields? Word of the day: fallow
